MILTZ
MILTZ is a Tokyo-based graphic studio / typographic practice rooted in the intersection of traditional Japanese lettering arts and contemporary visual culture. Known for transforming hands-written Edo-era lettering, kana, and calligraphic forms into bold, modern typographic expressions, the studio delivers branding and event visuals that resonate across both built environments and everyday graphic media.
With a growing track record across automotive, sports, and cultural collaborations, MILTZ has recently worked on a wide range of prominent projects.
In 2024, MILTZ was selected to design the custom livery for a McLaren F1 car under the “Driven by Change” campaign at the Japanese Grand Prix — a project that applied stylized dragons and cloud motifs rooted in Edo letter-forms, turning the racing vehicle into a moving canvas of cultural expression.
In 2025, MILTZ contributed as a key graphic collaborator for the MLB Tokyo Series, working alongside Major League Baseball Creative Services and design studio SKYE to develop the campaign’s visual identity. His work included the main event logo and graphic elements that helped build visual momentum and nationwide excitement around the Dodgers vs. Cubs showdown in Japan. At the heart of MILTZ’s work lies the fusion of historical script traditions and contemporary design sensibilities — creating visuals that honor the past while feeling fresh, energetic, and culturally relevant.
