Stephen Smith is an artist and illustrator who has been working under the name of Neasden Control Centre since 2000. NCC specialises in illustration, hand-drawn typography, publishing, animation and site specific installations to produce work for clients worldwide. NCC is renowned for it’s intuitive hand made process work across a range of diverse disciplines, often working simultaneously on multi disciplined projects such as painting seven floors of Phillippe Starck’s Royal Monceau Hotel in Paris, to working with Puma International on a range of apparel and products across seasons.
NCC has released 4 bestselling monograms with publishers Gestalten, Rojo and Mu. Smith has presented his work at a number of international galleries and institutions including MU (Netherlands), Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art (UK), Nam June Paik Centre (Korea) and Calm and Punk Gallery (Japan). His work has been supported by both the Arts Council of England and British Council.
